NFC Championship Game Preview - Commanders @ Eagles
The NFC crown will be heading to the NFC East, with the third matchup between the Washington Commanders and the Philadelphia Eagles of the 2024 season acting as the decider. Washington have had quite the season, converting their 4-win effort in 2023 to 12 wins and a Championship game appearance in 2024, their first since 1991. Meanwhile, the Philadelphia Eagles have been pegged for this slot since September, entering the game with a far more talented roster, but question marks on offense. Which of these NFC East rivals will get the ultimate bragging rights on Sunday afternoon?

Commanders @ Eagles NFC Championship Game Preview
The Washington Commanders delivered the upset of the season when they stormed into Ford Field last week and handed the one-seed Detroit Lions a loss. Jayden Daniels was as clinical as ever, as a passer and a scrambler, and the defense produced five huge turnovers. That is a recipe for success, now going up against an opponent they are very familiar with.
The Philadelphia Eagles survived a scare to reach the NFC Championship Game, and can thank Jalen Carter’s dominance at the heart of the defensive line for producing the last stop they needed against Los Angeles to get across the line. Jalen Hurts and the passing game look as questionable as ever, with the Eagles’ quarterback having passed for just 259 yards across his first two playoff games this year, and not more than 300 yards at any point all season. Saquon Barkley has been the polar opposite though, adding to his regular season tally of 2,005 yards, with 324 more in the playoffs.
He will be hunting again this weekend, going up against a Washington defense that gave up the third most rushing yards per game in the regular season, with 137.5. They were getting carved up by Jahmyr Gibbs in the first half of the Divisional Round clash against Detroit, and if Saquon can get rolling, the Commanders will struggle mightily. He rushed for 296 yards and 4 touchdowns in the two games that these sides played in the regular season.
Washington will likely hone in on the Philly rush attack, challenging the under-pressure, and banged-up, Hurts to beat them with his arm. Not only has the Eagles' passing attack struggled, but Washington have been thriving as a pass defense, giving up the third-fewest passing yards in the regular season and picking off the Lions four times in the Divisional Round.
When Washington are on offense, aggression has been the name of the game. They converted three of their four fourth down attempts against Detroit and three of their five against Tampa Bay, making the most of their quarterback's rare dual-threat ability. Daniels is so good at evading the pass rush, staying calm, and making the right decision, but he will be tested this week against a very tough Philadelphia defensive line.
Jalen Carter is a game-wrecker in the middle, helping the Eagles restrict teams to the second-fewest points all year long. Thankfully, Daniels benefits from a star wideout in Terry McLaurin, a great tight end Zach Ertz, and the surprisingly reliable Dyami Brown. Also, Eagles’ cornerback Quinyon Mitchell picked up an injury last week and is now questionable. Can Jayden do it again?

NFC Championship Game Predictions
Something magical appears to be happening in Washington, and I will be backing the rookie quarterback to keep it going this weekend. Saquon Barkley is the x-factor on the Philly offense who can scupper this prediction, but Washington will feel like they can hone in on him due to the lackluster production from Jalen Hurts and his wideouts. If they can, then I see Jayden having enough to get the win.
