NFL Divisional Round Preview - Rams @ Eagles
Fresh off their domination of the Minnesota Vikings, Sean McVay’s LA Rams now take the trip to Philadelphia to take on the two-seed Eagles. Philly didn't exactly enjoy the most comfortable of victories against Green Bay in the Wild-Card Round, but their defense proved how elite they can be, and the offense did just about enough. Considering Jalen Hurts was returning from a multi-week absence because of a concussion, has he knocked off the rust in time to tackle this surging Rams unit?

Rams @ Eagles Divisional Round Preview
The Sunday action of the NFL Divisional Round kicks off in Pennsylvania, where the Philadelphia Eagles will be hosting the LA Rams. LA opted to rest their starters in Week 18 and saw the benefit of that in the Wild-Card Round, easily sweeping aside a Minnesota team who had 4 more regular season wins. Matthew Stafford looked back to his best, and the defense were swarming over Minnesota’s offensive line, sacking a frazzled Sam Darnold a whopping 9 times.
There is next to no chance they follow up with the same number of sacks this weekend, going up against a superb offensive line in Philly, and a mobile quarterback in Jalen Hurts who took just 2 sacks against Green Bay last week. Hurts has come under some criticism for his efforts in last week’s victory, but he protected the ball well against a top-tier defense and should have more success this week against a Rams unit that ranks 20th in the NFL when it comes to passing yards conceded. AJ Brown famously had just one catch in the Wild-Card Round, and this is surely a great opportunity for him to roll and prove what a difference-maker he can be on the big stage.
Despite having 9 sacks last week against Sam Darnold, the Rams actually ranked just outside the bottom 10 with 38 sacks in the regular season. There is exciting young talent on the Rams’ D-line, including Defensive Rookie of the Year frontrunner Jared Verse, but Philly will back themselves to handle them with their experience on their O-line. They should also be confident enough in their chances of getting the run game going, with LA conceding 130 rushing yards per game in the regular season, which ranks 22nd in the NFL. Saquon Barkley is playing at the top of his game, having notched over 2,000 yards on the season, and he could well be the key to Philly controlling the game.
LA went into last week’s game against Minnesota as underdogs, but 9 wins in their last 12 games to close out the season tells you just how hot they are, and why the Wild-Card round outcome shouldn't have been too much of a surprise. Puka Nacua is as good as they come at the wide receiver position, and it will be fascinating to see him go up against the Eagles stud rookie cornerbacks Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper Dejean.

Predictions: Rams @ Eagles
The LA Rams appear to be peaking at just the right time, whereas the Philadelphia Eagles look a bit disjointed on offense still. With Sean McVay being about as good as they come on the sidelines, I will be backing the Rams to upset their hosts this week, turning up the heat on Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni.
