How to watch Wimbledon in the U.S.

ESPN has the television rights for Wimbledon in the United States, with hundreds of hours of live match coverage and analysis being shared across ESPN, ABCESPN2, and their streaming platform ESPN Select. However, Tennis Channel does still have a part to play, providing complementary nightly coverage, giving viewers an excellent way to catch up on the action they might have missed during the day.

TV Channels:

ESPN and ESPN2 are the main channels needed for traditional cable and satellite subscribers. Live coverage typically begins early in the morning, often around 6 or 7am Eastern Time, and runs into the afternoon.

  • ESPN / ESPN2: These channels handle the bulk of the tournament coverage, featuring action from across the All England Club.

  • ABC: ABC works its way into the rotation over the weekend, showcasing the final three hours of coverage on both Saturday and Sunday (1pm onwards).

  • ESPN Deportes: Spanish-speaking fans can enjoy live coverage, expert analysis, and tailored match commentary through ESPN’s dedicated Spanish-language network.

*Please note: Wimbledon’s qualifying action (22nd - 25th June) is streamed exclusively on ESPN Select.

Streaming:

If you have moved into the world of TV streaming, or want to enjoy the tennis action on the move, then there are several options to choose from.

  • ESPN Select (formerly ESPN+): This is an absolute must-have for US tennis fans. All live matches will feature on ESPN Select, in addition to qualifying action (22nd - 25th June), which shows exclusively on ESPN Select. This is ESPN’s official streaming provider, starting at $12.99 per month (or $129.99 per year). Given that Wimbledon lasts less than a month, users will get to watch the entire tournament for just $12.99, while also benefiting from ESPN Select’s other features.

  • Live TV Streaming Services: A more comprehensive upgrade to your viewing experience can be had by subscribing to a Live TV Streaming Service. For example, Fubo, YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, Sling TV, or DirecTV Stream.

These are more expensive, typically starting around $80 per month, but they do come with a wide variety of other sports, entertainment, and news channels, in addition to the channels you need for Wimbledon (ESPN, ESPN2, ABC). With each one offering a different channel portfolio and different benefits, it is worth doing your research before purchasing.

  • ESPN App: If you are a subscriber to a traditional cable package or streaming provider that offers ESPN within its channel portfolio, then you can log into the ESPN app using your provider credentials to watch the main Wimbledon US broadcast feeds on the go.

About the Wimbledon Championship

Wimbledon stands tall as the oldest tennis tournament in the world (first held in 1877), making it more prestigious and highly coveted than any of the other three Grand Slam events (the Australian Open, Roland Garros, and the US Open). It is the only Major still played on traditional grass courts, making it an iconic visual event, in addition to being the most intense action of the year.

As you might expect for a tournament as old as this, Wimbledon does have some traditions that add to the grandeur of the occasion. Expect to see very well dressed fans in the crowds, enjoying the iconic strawberries and cream. Also, athletes have to wear all white when they are playing.

Roger Federer is the most successful male winner, with 8 titles, while it is Martina Navratilova leading the way for the women, with 9. Both of those legendary players are retired now, but fans can still look forward to seeing another great, in the form of Novak Djokovic, who has the second most men’s titles with 7. He will be looking to tie Federer’s incredible record this year.

A bit further down the list are the much younger Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, with 2 and 1 titles respectively. They currently occupy the top 2 spots in the world rankings, but, unfortunately, Alcaraz is unable to play at Wimbledon 2026 due to injury. Does that pave the way for the reigning champion Sinner to successfully defend his title?
