Fighter Biography

Jake Paul

  • Nationality: American
  • Age: 27
  • Height: 6' 1"
  • Total fights: 10
  • Record: 9-1 (6 KOs)

Jake 'The Problem Child' Paul was originally meant to be fighting the great Mike Tyson, in what was going to be the biggest fight of his career to date. After Tyson had to postpone for medical reasons, Paul has shifted his attention to Mike Perry.

Paul rose to fame through social media platforms like Vine and YouTube, growing a loyal fan base by sharing his stunts, pranks, and energetic personality. Over time, he has leveraged his platform into a burgeoning boxing career, which has continued his impressive rise in fame and popularity.

His professional boxing career began in 2020, against YouTuber AnEsonGib, kickstarting a successful run that saw Paul win his first 6 fights. Whilst his initial introduction into the world of boxing was met with scepticism, Paul proved himself by registering wins against several MMA and UFC stars, including Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley, and Anderson Silva. He suffered a defeat at the hands of Tommy Fury, the younger brother of Tyson, in 2023, before going on another unbeaten run that has seen him defeat the likes of Nate Diaz, Andre August, and Ryan Bourland.

Mike Perry

  • Nationality: American
  • Age: 32
  • Height: 5' 10"
  • Total boxing fights: 1
  • Boxing record: 0-1

Mike ‘Platinum’ Perry is more known for his work as an MMA and bare-knuckle fighter than as a boxer, with his only professional fight resulting in a knockout loss in the fourth round. That came against Kenneth McNeil in 2015.

After a 7-8 record in UFC, Perry’s career has really taken off since transitioning to the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, where he has become a star. His biggest wins have come over former UFC champions Luke Rockhold and Eddie Alvarez, earning him the ‘King of Violence’ championship.

Head-to-head (H2H) Analysis, Predictions and odds

Neither of these two fighters has faced each other before, and they also do not share any past opponents. Jake Paul has earned the respect of the boxing world by proving himself against several tough opponents. He has a strong right hand and should hold a strong advantage over Perry when it comes to cardiovascular fitness.

Many of Paul’s opponents thus far have been former MMA or UFC fighters, but the challenge posed by Mike Perry will be slightly different. Throughout his career, Perry has always been on the hunt for a knockout rather than a submission, registering 15 in his 21 fights across multiple formats. The challenge for Perry will be to adjust to the longer format and heavier gloves.

It is because of these adjustments, in addition to the experience of the two fighters and the differences in height, that the Problem Child is considered the heavy favorite. Paul is approximately 2 inches taller than Perry, also benefiting from a 76-inch reach in comparison to 71 inches for Platinum. With all of this in mind,  has made Jake Paul the clear favorite, with odds of -335, in comparison to +245 for Perry.

The logic stands up, and it is hard to see any result other than a win for the Problem Child. He has the strength and the experience advantage over Platinum, with a knockout or technical knockout win sounding the most likely result. Perry is an explosive fighter and is no doubt talented, and whilst he should challenge Paul at times, it is hard to see him landing the big blows needed. As the fight extends into the later rounds, Perry will be entering unknown territory (he only fights 5 rounds in bare-knuckle fights), making him susceptible to Jake Paul, who will be better prepared from a fitness perspective.
