Men's College World Series - Tournament Info & Bracket

The stage is nearly set for the highly anticipated College World Series in the 2023 NCAA Baseball Tournament. Six teams have already secured their spots in Omaha: TCU, LSU, Oral Roberts, Wake Forest, Florida, and Virginia. The remaining two berths will be determined on Monday night when Tennessee faces Southern Miss and Stanford battles Texas in decisive Game 3s of their Super Regional matchups. The College World Series is scheduled to commence on Thursday at Charles Schwab Field.

Wake Forest among the championship candidates

Wake Forest, the tournament's top seed, along with Florida, LSU, and Virginia, were all among the top seven national seeds in the tournament. It comes as no surprise to see them progressing to the College World Series. However, the tournament has a captivating Cinderella team in Oral Roberts. Hailing from the Summit League, the Golden Eagles claimed victory in the Stillwater regional earlier this month before overcoming Oregon in the Super Regionals.

The regional round brought some unexpected eliminations, with high seeds like Vanderbilt, Clemson, and Miami being sent home from the original field of 64, adding an element of unpredictability to the tournament.

MCWS Tournment Information

Now, let's delve into everything fans need to know about college baseball's annual pinnacle event, including the format, dates, bracket, and scores.

The tournament commences with the regional round, utilizing a round-robin, double-elimination format. Each of the 16 No. 1 seeds hosts a respective four-team regional whenever possible. The 16 regionals are seeded one through four. In each region, the No. 1 seed faces the No. 4 seed, while the No. 2 seed takes on the No. 3 seed on the first day of action. Subsequently, the winners of these matchups advance to face each other, while the losing teams compete in an elimination game.

The victorious team from each regional progresses to the super regional round. This stage comprises 16 teams in total and follows a best-of-three series format.

The winners of the super regionals, eight teams in all, earn coveted spots in the College World Series, held in Omaha, Nebraska.

The College World Series adopts a double-elimination format until only two teams remain. At this juncture, the slates are wiped clean, and a best-of-three series determines the national champion.

With anticipation mounting and the College World Series field taking shape, baseball fans are eagerly awaiting the pinnacle event of college baseball. The upcoming battles promise thrills, surprises, and remarkable performances as these top collegiate teams vie for the ultimate prize of becoming the national champions.
