History of Fulham Football Club


Fulham Football Club was founded in 1879 as Fulham St Andrew's Church Sunday School F.C. The club played its first match in 1880 and quickly became a prominent team in the amateur leagues. In 1894, the club turned professional and joined the Southern League.

In 1907, Fulham was elected to the Football League and began playing in the Second Division. The club achieved moderate success over the next few decades, with their best finish in the league being third place in the First Division in 1959.

Fulham's fortunes took a turn for the worse in the 1960s, and the club was relegated to the Third Division in 1968.
